The SEETELHOTEL Kinderresort Usedom is located in the Baltic Sea resort of Trassenheide in the northeast of the island of Usedom. Located between Karlshagen and Zinnowitz in the middle of a fragrant pine forest, the former shepherd village has always attracted active vacationers and young families who come to the small seaside resort mainly because of the nature and landscape of the island of Usedom.
Around the Baltic resort there are campsites, vacation camps and numerous hiking and biking trails. Especially because of the many activities and programs for children Trassenheide was awarded by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a "family-friendly community.
And this is exactly where the SEETELHOTEL Kinderresort Usedom comes in.
Because the former Waldhotel in Trassenheide has been rebuilt since 2018 and supplemented with a concept tailored to families with children up to 12 years old. To date, many new ideas have been implemented for the benefit of guests and quite a few conversions and extensions have been made to the vacation complex. For this purpose, the SEETELHOSTELS group dug deep into its pockets and renovated for a total of 21 million euros and built two new buildings with reception, gastronomy and entertainment as well as five suite houses.
So much for the theory, but let's take a look at what's really NEW in the Kinderhotel ..
Since we already stayed as guests in the 3-star hotel in 2018, we were as excited as the whizzes about the new attractions. After passing the large parking lot, we already saw the new main building with a spacious entrance area and a bright, spacious lobby. The house is so big that it also houses the restaurant area, the family theater and the new children's club.
Behind them, the five brand-new cottages rise up on an area of perhaps seven soccer fields. Even from a distance, the new fun pool is recognizable by its green outdoor slide. Dozens of small toy castles and climbing frames are spread all over the premises like the staffage buildings of a castle park. Further back, under pine trees, are the already familiar country houses.
The reception area
In contrast to the former reception, the reception area has increased tenfold in size. In the spacious bright room there is also a bar and numerous seating areas. According to the motto "The first impression counts" a lot of wood and warm green tones provide comfort. The entrance area now looks much more friendly and inviting.
The children quickly found out that here you can order slushies at the bar. Even better was that they could take the fruity vitamin bombs to the cinema hall next door.
The rooms
The children's resort has different sized rooms, depending on the size of the family. The accommodations are furnished in warm colors, modern and cozy, using a lot of natural materials. Amenities include a desk, HD-TV, safe and of course a bathroom with shower.
Apartments and Misionette suites also have a kitchenette with all the usual kitchen appliances, which is actually no longer necessary with the new all-inclusive offer, unless it's for the morning coffee.
The suite houses
We stayed in one of the new house ensembles. The living area of a maisonette suite actually offers the comfort of a small family house. The day-bright accommodation is spacious with comfortable seating and a large TV in the living room.
Just next to the front door is a guest toilet of sorts, with a narrow kitchen behind it, but it doesn't seem quite set up yet. Above the refrigerator are kettles and a coffee capsule machine with ample coffee supplies.
On the upper floor you enter a spacious bathroom with a ground-level shower and bathtub. This is followed by the children's room with two junior beds. In the bedroom next door there is a large double bed and a TV hanging on the wall as well.
A lot has also been done here in terms of digitalization. In contrast to the former Internet access in modem speed at peak times, you can now pull sufficiently fast jerk-free videos at any time of day.
Each suite has its own terrace. Through two bright floor-to-ceiling patio windows, you can walk from the living room directly out into the small outdoor area with garden furniture. Ideal for warm summer evenings to end the day under the open sky with a glass of wine.
Small note: when the building was built, they apparently paid attention to the house acoustics. Even if the interior seems to be a little bit bright, there are almost no disturbing noises from the neighboring apartments.
Eating and drinking
The herbal tea or lemon-cucumber water tastes wonderfully refreshing
The pancake machine produces up to 10 mini pancakes at the touch of a button
The old cozy pavilion is one
The food is great, they didn't skimp on the raw materials used. In the toddler area, the entire HIPP range of glasses is available for use. Here the seating and a sink similar to a KITA are much smaller and lower.
Even next to the main buffet, the children can help themselves just like the grown-ups, because the sausage and cheese platters as well as two warm children's dishes to choose from are located at eye level.
The showpiece of the buffet was not the almost meter-long, smoky salmon together with the giant shrimps. From children's eyes, it was the pancake machine, from which freshly baked pancakes fell at the touch of a button. Even tech-savvy dads have lined up here.
In the hot area, elegant chafing dishes with automatic lid brakes ensure quiet food presentation. At a hot plate you can have the cook put some fried food on your plate. He seems to know his business, because the beef steaks were a poem.
By the way: The beer served here is delicious and comes from the Seetelhotel brewery in Heringsdorf. Even the freshly roasted coffee comes from our own production.
All inclusive means here also that lunch packages for the beach day could be greased diligently. There are even paper bags ready for transportation.
The fun pool
The real highlight in the fun pool is the 84 meter long outdoor slide. Unfortunately, I couldn't count how many times the kids climbed up the tower to the slide.
Pool, children's bath. Up to the gallery, enjoy the view for a moment and enter the blue tube with 84 meters of slide fun.
Around the 200-square-meter indoor pool with a separate children's pool and on the gallery are loungers for relaxing. There is also a separate relaxation room on the upper floor.
The wellness area
On the upper floor is the wellness area for the "big" guests. Here you can sweat in a steam sauna and two large saunas. Large panorama windows offer a beautiful view of the outdoor area and the new suite houses during the sauna session. For a really noise-free relaxation there is a room next to the showers with a separate rest area.
Adjacent to this is the spa area where you can enjoy massages, cosmetic and beauty treatments for pregnant women, families and children from the age of 4. can book the first day of their life. Free sauna towels are also provided here.
Really remarkable is the children's sauna on the ground floor. It is not quite as hot here and there are interesting play elements on the walls. It is well known that children cannot sit still as long as adults. Boredom does not arise here in any case.
The entire pool area is accessible to guests around the clock. The saunas can be used until 10 pm.
The new children's club
While the former children's club in the basement of one of the old country houses is still in operation, a true play paradise now awaits in the new building. A handicraft& Painting corner, a Bobby-Car station, a children's climbing wall or a Wii station are still waiting for the little guests in this play street. A child care provides eight hours a day offers for children from 2 to 12 years.
The new studio in the main house resembles a large arcade with cinema and children's disco. The indoor play club has the advantage of being located directly above the dining room. The lively little ones can thus already get up after dinner and go up to their land of milk and honey. However, for an evening exploration, the children's club is a bit far from the old country houses, because the reception house is not centrally located. You don't let the kids run all over the place for a short playtime. But the bigger ones will also find their way there.
It is noticeable that there is no other place of retreat for the adults apart from the dining room. So many just stay at the tables and order their drinks there. Very comfortable is again the indoor climbing tower with three levels right next to the dining room, where the kids can have a good romp while the parents are still eating.
Leisure facilities and playgrounds
Also in the outside area was invested strongly. Three new playgrounds have been added for different age groups. In addition, there are climbing frames, children's slides, a volleyball court and a large chess set between the old country houses.
Tips for visiting the beach and Trassenheide
As already mentioned, the Kinderresort USEDOM is not located directly at the Baltic Sea. To the beach it is a short walk of approx. 15-20 minutes. You can shorten the 1.5 kilometer walk to 5 minutes with a rental bike from the hotel.
The shallow sandy beach of Trassenheide, almost 4 kilometers long and 30 meters wide, is ideal for families with children who want to play in the water without worries. The part of the beach guarded by the rescue service, also called the main beach, is awarded the Blue Flag every year.
Beach walkers can walk directly along the water to the neighboring communities of Karlshagen or Zinnowitz. In between there are several dog and nudist beaches.
Also in the village there are numerous activities, programs and playgrounds for children. On the excellent cycling and hiking paths and nature trails around Trassenheide, you will meet cyclists every day who roam the coast of Usedom.
Conclusion
The children were enthusiastic. They moved from the buffet to one of the playgrounds to the fun pool and from the kids club to the cinema – always in circles. As a bonus, the beach day at the Baltic Sea was also added. In the evening we all fell into bed exhausted.
Only adults see such a vacation always with a critical eye. However, one can overlook with a smile the many little things that do not run smoothly when a hotel is newly opened.
For us "old people" the culinary delights are meanwhile a decisive factor for the general well-being. Also in this point, we were not disappointed. The food was not only very tasty, but also the staff attentive and friendly.
The prices for rooms, apartments and suites seem quite reasonable at the first moment. But if you consider that a day ticket in a wellness spa now costs over 40 euros per person, this is by no means too expensive. Germany-wide one gets only with difficulty a more favorable offer with comparable inclusive achievements. For a family of 4 it is definitely worth staying in one of the new suite houses.
All in all, the Kinderresort Usedom in Trasseneheide offers both young and old guests all the amenities they need for a great stay at the Baltic Sea.
